1931: Alaska Native health care transferred to U.S. Office of Indian Affairs
The U.S. Office of Indian Affairs takes over responsibility for Alaska Native health care from the Territory of Alaska’s Bureau of Education. The transfer allows Alaska Natives to benefit from the federal government’s spending on health care for American Indians, now including Alaska Natives.
