1958: Seminole knowledge aids in tranquilizer’s development
The Seminole medicine man Josie Billie shares some of his vast knowledge of healing plants with the Upjohn Pharmaceutical Company of Kalamazoo, Michigan, helping the company in its development of a tranquilizer. For thousands of years, Native peoples have used a wide variety of plants for healing numerous ailments and injuries.
