1960: Indian Health Service establishes pharmacy training

The Indian Medical Center in Gallup, New Mexico, establishes the first pharmacy residency program in the Indian Health Service. This is the first time that advanced training for Native pharmacists has been available directly at an American Indian reservation. Gallup is located on the border of the Navajo Nation.
