The Center for Clinical Observational Investigations Launches New Dataset Profiles
The National Library of Medicine (NLM) is pleased to announce that its Center for Clinical Observational Investigations (CCOI) now features dataset profiles for the National Institutes of Health’s All of Us Research Program, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (available through the Virtual Research Data Center), the Clinical Practice Research Datalink Aurum, and the UK Biobank.
Available on the CCOI website, the dataset profiles highlight, summarize, and aggregate information about and within select clinical datasets. Each dataset profile contains a dataset overview, basic statistics, and individual clinical concept counts. The dataset profiles are fully open and publicly available, as referenced in an August 2023 Musings from the Mezzanine blog post.
The groundbreaking CCOI lowers barriers to finding, understanding, and using clinical datasets. It aims to reduce the research burden and improve access to key information from an important collection of clinical datasets, which are critical for scientific and public health research and policy but are otherwise not inherently linked.
Researchers interested in using clinical observational datasets are encouraged to explore the resources and share their experience via the orange “Feedback” button on the right side of the CCOI website.
