• Citations are added daily, Tuesday-Saturday. Citations are supplied electronically by publishers, or are scanned and converted by optical character recognition, or are manually typed (keyboarded) in preparation for indexing.
  
  
• MEDLINE citations are typically added, as batches weekly, and are available by noon (U.S. Eastern time) each Saturday. MEDLINE citations contain MeSH Headings, Publication Type and other information added during the indexing process, and have undergone further quality control. Searchers should note that MEDLINE citations are rarely new to PubMed, but rather, they replace existing in-process citations.
  
  
• MEDLINE citations added in January 2001 will cover roughly three months of citations that were temporarily on hold.
  
  
• This update schedule helps to facilitate updating of Cubby stored searches on PubMed.
