Data Changes

Qualitative Distinction
Qualitative Distinction modifiers allow flexibility in the RxNorm model to create new RXCUIs as needed. Please see the technical documentation for more information about Qualitative Distinctions (QDs), which were first released in the August 2016 monthly release.

Here are the new concepts with QDs in the January release:

RXCUITTYString
1991306SCD0.25 MG, 0.5 MG Dose 1.5 ML semaglutide 1.34 MG/ML Pen Injector
1991311SBD0.25 MG, 0.5 MG Dose 1.5 ML semaglutide 1.34 MG/ML Pen Injector [Ozempic]
1991316SCD1 MG Dose 1.5 ML semaglutide 1.34 MG/ML Pen Injector
1991317SBD1 MG Dose 1.5 ML semaglutide 1.34 MG/ML Pen Injector [Ozempic]

For each SCD or SBD with a QD, there is an associated attribute in RXNSAT with the attribute name (ATN) of 'RXN_QUALITATIVE_DISTINCTION'. The January release contains the following new attribute values (ATV) to match the QD strings found in the SCD and SBD normalized names:

12 HR versus 24 HR Timolol Products
Starting with the January 2018 release, single ingredient timolol products are represented using a “12 HR” or “24 HR” quantity factor to help distinguish generic timolol products dosed twice per day versus once daily, respectively.

The January release includes new active concepts for the following timolol representations:

TTYRXCUIString
SCD 1992303 12 HR Timolol 5 MG/ML Ophthalmic Solution
SBD 1992304 12 HR Timolol 5 MG/ML Ophthalmic Solution [Timoptic]
SBD 1992305 12 HR Timolol 5 MG/ML Ophthalmic Solution [Betimol]
SCD 1992299 24 HR Timolol 5 MG/ML Ophthalmic Solution
SBD 1992300 24 HR Timolol 5 MG/ML Ophthalmic Solution [Istalol]
