Paxlovid Pack PSN Synonyms Updated

Paxlovid is an investigational drug indicated for the treatment of certain cases of COVID-19 under a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). The RxNorm team was made aware of concerns regarding dosing errors related to Paxlovid. One discussion of possible errors can be found here: Numerous Wrong Dose Errors with PAXLOVID.

RxNorm Prescribable Name (PSN) synonyms for Paxlovid brand name and generic packs were updated to help clearly identify to prescribers which pack is being prescribed. For example, one of the Paxlovid brand name pack PSNs now includes the word “Renal”.
