Test Files with New RxNorm Terminology Term Types (TTYs) Available July 3, 2023
As previously announced, RxNorm will add three new TTYs by fall/winter 2023 at the earliest. These new TTYs will improve the RxNorm model for medications using precise ingredients as the basis of strength substance.
To help stakeholders prepare for the change, test files with the new TTYs are available here: https://download.nlm.nih.gov/umls/kss/rxnorm/newttytesting/RxNorm_full_07032023_new_tty.zip. The test files will be available through the end of August 2023.
The new TTYs that will be added are:
- Semantic Clinical Drug Form Precise (SCDFP)
- Semantic Clinical Dose Form Group Precise (SCDGP)
- Semantic Branded Drug Form Precise (SBDFP)
The new TTYs will have the following relationships in RXNREL.RRF:
SCDFP
- isa/inverse_isa – SCDGP
- has_form/form_of – SCDF
- has_boss/boss_of – PIN/IN (RO)
- has tradename/tradename_of – SBDFP
- isa/inverse_isa (RN/RB) – SCD
SBDFP
- has_form/form_of – SBDF
- tradename_of/has tradename – SCDFP
- isa/inverse_isa (RN/RB) – SBD
SCDGP
- has_form/form_of – SCDG
- is_a/inverse_isa – SCDFP
- has_tradename/tradename_of – SBDG
