Brazil is currently facing an epidemic of obesity as well as a lingering crisis of hunger and malnutrition. A poor diet is one high in fats and sugars or without the vitamins and minerals essential to thrive. The lack of affordable, nutritious food fuels both problems.

Although there is enough food to provide everyone with a balanced diet, many people do not earn enough to buy it. Cheap, processed meals and a lack of exercise have led to unhealthy lifestyles. To tackle these issues, Brazilian citizens are remaking the marketplace for food and changing the way they live and work.
