Materials and Methods

Materials for this study were acquired from the National Library of Medicine’s Visible Human Data Set.  These images functioned as an excellent model for this study.

Hardware
An IBM clone Pentium 200Mhz computer with 32 Megabytes of RAM, and 4 gigabytes of storage.

Software
Several programs were involved in the processing of this data.  After decompressing the data with WinZip version 6.3 for Windows, the image was then opened as a RAW file in Adobe PhotoShop 4.0 for further processing.  Some of the major processes in PhotoShop included cropping, adjusting the saturation level of the image, and sharpening.  All processes provided greater resolution of anatomical structures which were then saved using TIFF storage format.  The finished images were then placed in Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows, where most sections were labeled in a prescribed sequence.  One identical section was labeled randomly for testing purposes.  Test data and statistical analysis thereafter were processed by SPSS for MS Windows, version 6.1
