Serial Hospital Reports
- At NLM, serial hospital reports classed in WX 2 are arranged by Table G number and double cuttered for the city and hospital name
- Decimal subdivisions .1 and .2 are not used for the city
- The cutter for the country is recorded in 060 $a and the cutters for the city and institution go in 060 $b without a space between the city and institution cutters. The LC cuttering system is used for the city and institution cutters (Cf. Module 9—Diachronic Works)
- Example:
- The annual report of St. Luke's Hospital (Jacksonville, Fla.)
- Call number breakdown
- WX 2 Classification number for hospital reports
- AF4 Table G number for Florida
- J2 LC cutter for Jacksonville
- S3 LC cutter for St. Luke’s Hospital
- a Workmark for first title word "annual"
- 060 00 $a WX 2 AF4 $b J2S3a
- Serial reports of U.S. named military hospitals are cuttered the same way as civilian hospitals except that the military cutter (A1-A5) is used instead of the geographical notation for the country
- Example:
- The annual report of Walter Reed Army Hospital
- Call number breakdown
- WX 2 Classification number for hospital reports
- A2 Table G number for United States Dept. of the Army
- D6 LC cutter for District of Columbia
- W2 LC cutter for Walter Reed
- a Workmark for first title word "annual"
- 060 00 $a WX 2 A2 $b D6W2a
- Numbered U.S. military hospitals do not have fixed locations and therefore a geographical notation is not applied to them. The hospital number is used as the cutter in the 060 $b without an additional cutter or workmark
- Example:
- The year book of the U.S. Army General Hospital No. 141
- Call number breakdown
- WX 2 Classification number for hospital reports
- A2 Table G number for United States Dept. of the Army
- 141 Hospital number
- 060 10 $a WX 2 A2 $b 141
