After clapping for Dr. Collins, one of the other NLM interns introduces you to a former classmate of theirs. Their former classmate is currently interning at the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS). They invite you over to the Natcher Building to show you what they work on.



In their office, they give you an overview of the NIGMS Science Education website. Their internship involves researching content for a variety of educational resources including fact sheets, profiles of scientists, and blog posts on many different scientific topics. They even helped out with the past Fall issue of Pathways, a student magazine.

They hand you a copy of the magazine, and they casually say that a bunch of interns are going to hang out tonight at 6 p.m., playing board games and puzzles. “You should come!” they chirped. You smile and say, “Sure! Why not.”

They point at the magazine in your hand, and tell you that the location of the meetup can be found in there.

You’re about to ask what they mean by that, but before you can utter a word, they realize they are late for a meeting and dash out the door. You look back down at the magazine in your hand and notice that a few letters in the title are highlighted. You flip through the rest of the pages and see more highlighted letters.
