Introduction
The conductivity models describe the body and were derived
from a realistically shaped, highly detailed anatomical model. The cardiac
sources were obtained by a model of the excitation process within the heart.
The numerical methods were used to solve the forward problem, which consists
of calculating the electrical field distribution arising from sources.
The solution of the
forward problem was determined numerically using the finite difference
method, which allows the efficient solving of large
problems on shared memory, multiprocessor compute servers
(Figure 1).
