Rise, Serve, Lead!
The Rise, Serve, Lead! exhibit provides a digital gallery of resources about America’s women physicians. Your supervisor asks you to review the information in the exhibit on Dr. Lori Arviso Alvord and write a short biographical sketch about her.
Along with the Rise, Serve, Lead! website, your supervisor let you know that there is additional information on Dr. Alvord that is kept in a locked file room down in the basement stacks. She hands you a map with a few directions scribbled in the margins and says she will check up on you again at lunch.
With the map in hand, you climb down two flights of stairs, and weave through the rows and rows of books. Ms. Kim told you that there are over 50 miles of subterranean bookshelves in Building 38. You almost get lost, but eventually turn a corner to find the file room. You see that there is a keypad next to the door, and you’ll need to enter a code to gain access to the room.
Oh no, she didn’t say anything about needing a code…
As you look through the window on the door of the file room, you see a note posted that faces the inside of the room. The note says:

Dr. Alvord combines two worlds of medicine—traditional Navajo healing practices and conventional Western medicine—to treat the whole patient. She provides culturally competent care to restore balance in her patients' lives and to speed their recovery.
