Use of Other 65X fields

  • Geographical descriptors (in MeSH Z tree) are recorded in 651 $a (Cf. Module 6—Geographicals)

  • Publication characteristics (in MeSH V tree) are recorded in 655 $a (Cf. Module 7—Publication Characteristics)

    • The first indicator for 651 and 655 fields is always “blank” and the second indicator is always “2”.

  • Personal names used as subjects are recorded in MARC 600 field, corporate names used as subjects are recorded in MARC 610 field, conference names used as subjects are recorded in MARC 611 field, and work titles used as subjects are recorded in MARC 630 field. At NLM, the second indicator is always “2” for names and work titles used as subjects (Cf. Module 8—Names or Work Titles as Subjects)
